Description
The purpose of this book is to enlighten you who cannot see what’s going on in Ohio’s prisons to what is going on. Nothing! And nothing is the problem. I ask if nothing is being done to help rehabilitate the prisoners across Ohio’s prisons, how do you expect people to change? How do you expect them to take an in-depth look at themselves and what’s going on around them and realize change comes from within? You would be amazed at how many individuals are sitting around in Ohio’s prisons waiting for the rehabilitation fairy.
My question to you is how do you get the recidivism rate lower? How can we assist released prisoners to ensure they are not only monitored properly, but also getting all the benefits and assistance needed to be productive in the community? The answer is easy CARE. If no one cares what happens to them, how can you expect them to care about what happens to anybody but themselves? How can we get rehabilitation not just recognized in prison but into the prisons? Because if you ask me, it never was in the prison. Prisons, to my knowledge, has been used to house criminals not rehabilitate.
Throughout this book you will read interviews done by me with other prisoners in my housing unit who have either been in prison for an extensive amount of time, or a short time, then leaving and coming back. You will also see through these interviews and what’s called a (DOTS) portal, exactly what programs myself and these prisoners have completed. I wish I could interview every person in this prison but unfortunately, I can’t. I really want you to see the lack of rehabilitation that goes on.
